International Friendships, Inc (IFI) is a community organization that works in partnership with universities and Christian volunteers to promote friendship and hospitality for international students, scholars, and their families. IFI also partners with internationals through on-campus student organizations.

There many ways to get involved! Please join us:

International Friendship Meals

Open your home to international students for meals on Oct. 12. Training required. Sign up at columbus.ifipartners.org/events/. Contact Jerry Cable, jerry66.cable@gmail.com.

Conversation Partners

Meet one-on-one with international students to practice English, build relationships, and point to Jesus. (IFI training required) Sign up at Contact Jerry Cable, jerry66.cable@gmail.com.

Friday Night Bible Study Set-Up

Set up tables and chairs for the Friday night IFI Bible study at LR. (IFI training not necessary.) During the school year, before 6:00 pm. Contact Jerry Cable, jerry66.cable@gmail.com.

IFI Pumpkin Carving

Join international students in the carving of pumpkins. Some are true beginners and some are experts. No training required. Friday, Oct. 25, 7:00-9:30 pm, at Lytham Road. Sign up at columbus.ifipartners.org/events/. Contact Jerry Cable, jerry66.cable@gmail.com.

IFI Hocking Hills Trip

IFI Thanksgiving Meal Hosting

Volunteering with IFI to connect with international students and scholars is:

  • Strategic – You can make a significant impact for the kingdom of God around the world with out traveling and learning another language.
  • Effective – The students who are touched for Christ return to their home countries in positions of leadership and influence.
  • Fun – It is a great JOY to expand one’s awareness of world cultures by inviting internationals into your life.

 

There are many ways to get involved with IFI. You can choose to engage in one time events or participate in an ongoing activity -- whatever fits your schedule, abilities and resources. Some activities require training; some do not, but all are important.


 Training sessions are available online and at multiple occasions throughout the year:

  • The New Volunteer General Training is an overview of the International Friendships Inc (IFI) Vision and Values and will teach you the skills you’ll need to relate well to an international friend. Trainings are offered throughout the year or online training is always available.
  • Online training available through the IFI website, www.ifipartners.org/new-volunteer-training, or contact Jerry Cable, jerry66.cable@gmail.com.

No training required

  • Pray for internationals and IFI Ministries
  • Volunteer at the IFI Friday night Bible studies
    During the school year at Lytham Road Opportunities: Bring food, set up or clean up

Training required - one, two-hour session

  • Airport pick up
  • Temporary housing of a student/scholar for two or three nights
  • Conversation partner – Meet an international one hour each week to practice English/Be A Friend
  • English Conversation Club – Meet on Saturday mornings with a group of students/scholars to practice English together.
  • Invite internationals to your home and UALC for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter.
