Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3
The best way to ensure that our dreams and goals will be achieved is to dedicate our work to the LORD. How do we do this? When we feel called to a certain ministry or even a new occupation, the one way to be certain, before jumping head-first into that new path, is to ask God? This is part of the due diligence we as Christians must practice before we do anything and everything.

This may sound ridiculous, or even impossible until we remember we are to be praying constantly. So, if a new thought or idea pops into our minds, or even an amazing opportunity, “take it to the Lord in prayer.” It isn’t like we must wait until our prayer time tomorrow morning…we are praying continually anyway (1 Thessalonians 5:17), so ask the question right then and there.
Remember, once you have talked this over with God, don’t keep worrying or wondering what to do. God cannot work through anxious hearts. Open your Bible, seek the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit from those pages and know that God will not let you down. We must learn to make a conscious effort to involve God-seek His guidance knowing our ultimate success comes from God. Anything less than this is disobedience.
As the Message version puts it: “Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.” (Proverbs 16:3)
One commentary instructs us to put God at the center from the start…not just when things start falling apart. Involving God on all our decisions leads to a sense of peace and we begin to realize his way is the best way. There is much wisdom and instruction in the few words of this Proverb:
Commit to the Lord…put our faith in God’s sovereignty. Involve him in the details or our lives.
Trust God to do what only God can do. Seek his advice, stop and listen for his Word of direction and then trust the process as you trust Him. Remember, our plans might not always materialize in the way we expect. But we can be confident that He is working all things together for our good. (Romans 8:28)
PRAYER
Dear Jesus, We have so much to learn about prayer and about turning to you always in our everyday lives. You want to be involved and our prayers for direction will do that. We will begin to see how including you in our lives every moment, we are heading toward success. We will not have to wonder if we are in your will.
