REFLECTION

Warriors for Christ

Did you ever notice that in the workplace or out in the community that one of the first things that non-Christian friends often try to do is pull you away from Christ. I have seen this many times in my own life. I was a high school football assistant coach and in the coaches' locker room there was always course language, using the Lord's name in vain and often times the telling of the latest dirty joke. It was a pit and the pressure to participate was immense.

Other times, friends would want to argue about your faith and their beliefs. It was confusing for the early church and it is still confusing for us today. Today's scripture warns us that, "These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit."

So what is the solution. The provided scripture tells us to build ourselves up in the Holy Spirit. As I would watch my athletes train, they would spend hours in the weight room pushing up weights and working against the thing that could defeat them. They worked there way up in weights and before too long, they were much stronger than they ever would have been if they didn't do that lifting. It is the same for us. We must push up God's Word, Pray to the Holy One and work with others that have a stronger faith. The prayer partner, small group friend or just a spiritual mentor will be blessed by the efforts he or she puts into you.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I ask you and the Holy Spirit to work through others to strengthen all of us. We need a close relationship with you. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
