No Time To Waste
By Judy Webb
The Scripture for today brings the word urgency to mind. There is no time to waste as we feel a need for action! Our world is so messy. These days that sense of urgency is real. It is time to change what we can while we learn to live within this mess. Our faith is challenged at every turn and we learn each day that our future is only secure with Jesus at our side.
"Today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts." (Psalm 95:8, Hebrews 3:7).

Today is the perfect day to turn to God, (we are not promised tomorrow). The Israelites refused to trust God for the great things he had promised them, they were unwilling to obey, to wait and walk in faith. This kept them from entering the Rest God appointed for them--Promised Land.
Scripture warns us against being swallowed up by the same unbelief, the same stubborn hardening of hearts the Israelites possessed which resulted in 40 years of wandering. As near as I can figure, my desert wandering ended on a Sunday afternoon in 1985. This day marked the end of senselessly living a joyless life and changing direction. Turning from the old ways and setting off on a new journey...from unbelief and pointless living to recognizing the first inklings of faith. Can you trace your journey to Jesus?
Was there a season of rebellion in your past? Perhaps a time when your heart was hardened? Or are you in that season right now? The author of Hebrews is pleading with us to never go back to the old covenant and turn our back on Jesus. Those were not the 'good ole' days'. Remember, the Israelites were right on the edge of the Promised Land when they rejected God. They were so close but couldn't see past their selfish sinful ways. If only they listened to Moses. If only they embraced God when He offered them the best life ever. If only they had stepped one foot in the land He had prepared for them from the beginning, everything could have been so different.
"Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me; they tried me, though they have seen what I did. " (Psalm 95:8-9)
Have a listening ear and a soft surrendered heart. Acknowledge the urgency and then worship, trust, and obey.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, teach us how to feed on Your word. Help us to glean the nourishment from every morsel and then to swallow and savor the goodness found there. Show us that when our first meal of the day is from your Word and that it has been prepared for each of us individually, what a sweet taste that is! Amen.

"Show us that when our first meal of the day is from your Word and that it has been prepared for each of us individually, what a sweet taste that is!"
I took the challenge to reflect on several crossroads in my journey where I chose to lean into Jesus more. Good suggestion!
Wonderful message.
This is beautiful Judy. They were so close but couldn’t see past their sinful ways- how true! Lord Jesus, protect us and armor us against our sinful natures!
A soft surrendering heart...how sweet the sound meant for someone like me. 💕
