DAILY READING

REFLECTION

Jesus is the Only True Way

By Judy Webb

The more scripture I read and study the more certain I am of eternal life. Jesus gave up His rightful place in heaven to come to this earth and teach us this. He opened the gates to Heaven; He lifted the veil and revealed a better life; the best life we could ever dream of; a life like Adam and Eve enjoyed before they fell prey to the wiles of Satan and his evil ways.

Now, we must learn how to avoid those same pitfalls Adam and Eve fell for. We must learn scripture, we must know the truth, so that we can recognize when Satan is feeding us his line of lies. The reading for today reminds us of the fact that Jesus was perfect, Jesus is perfect, and we only need to follow his lead. Where He leads, perfection waits.

Do you remember a time you were unjustly accused? Only, it wasn’t you who did the deed. Did you protest, point a finger at the actual offender and clear your name? Maybe the guilty party was a brother or sister, and you wanted to protect them—no matter how culpable. We know what Jesus did when in this situation. He kept silent. He allowed God’s plan to move forward and accepted blame and lost His life. He gave up His life so we could find ours.

When we encounter situations that require us to make good choices, but have no idea which choice is best, we need to turn to the Bible, then pray for the Holy Spirit to shower us with His wisdom. We are promised wisdom when we ask for it. I am reminded of the fad of a few years ago, the WWJD bracelets that became so popular. While I don’t have one anymore, I still ask this question every time I am in a quandary about the right thing to do.

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.” (1 Peter 2:21 NIV)

PRAYER

Dear Lord, There are many troubles in life, but you offer us a way out of these troubles. You are the Way and we only need to stay on the right path and allow your Light to show us the way home. Give us wisdom in our every day life and be close through the darkness. Amen.
