Abounding in Hope

By Diane Ward

Paul prayed for believers to live in harmony with one another guided by Christ’s example to bring glory to God. He used Old Testament scripture to show that God’s plan has always been for both Jews and Gentiles to glorify Him, the source of hope and encouragement for all believers. He wanted us to see and understand His plan for restoration.

My left eye was accidentally injured by a piece of propelled glass when I was a young nurse. The attending physician told me I might lose sight of my left eye. As he left the room, I knew the presence of the Holy Spirit was reassuring me that my sight would be restored. When the bandage was removed my fear was gone. I could see.

Saul was a Pharisee, Rabbi, Scholar, and lawyer. He persecuted, executed, and imprisoned many leading to their deaths until the day he was struck blind on the Damascus road. He was taken to Ananias in Damascus, sent by Jesus to restore his sight. He could now see.

By Saul’s order Stephen was martyred. Full of the Holy Spirit, he saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at God’s right hand. (Acts 7:55) Following Stephen’s death no longer would Saul be called Paul. He evangelized the Gentiles by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 9:8-9)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." The fruit of the Spirit is joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Romans 15:13)

Strive together to live in peace!

(Galatians 5:22 - Acts 24 – Isaiah 11:20)

PRAYER

As we pray for peace at this sacred season, let’s remember someday there will be justice and harmony in the world.  (Isaiah 9:6) The government shall be upon His shoulders!
