Royal Beings
By David Thompson
So, in the beginning who were the only Royal Beings? Of course it was God and Jesus Christ. I don't know about you, but I always saw God as an omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient being. One that had all power, all ability to be in all places at once and all knowledge of the universe for all that He created in it. That is all true, but there was another side of God..
In Psalm 2, we see compassion as mentioned in (the main reference of Genesis 2-3). As we look here, we see a couple, they also were Royal Beings after being created, without sin, who then made a major mistake. As we will find out later in this story and in stories throughout the Old Testament, God could have decided to wipe both Adam and Eve out. He could have started over, but as we learn later in the Bible, God had a plan for their lives and ours. There was a punishment, harsh in my book, and that was separation from God. They were expelled from the Garden of Eden and had to work to sustain themselves. Sin had entered in and God, by His very nature can not look at sin. There was no eternal forgiveness at that point. They lost their Royal Being status.
Throughout the time of Genesis, through today's scripture (Psalms 2) and all the way to Christ's great sacrifice on the Cross, the only way to find temporary forgiveness from sin was to sacrifice animals. In my m2m group, led by Phil Heavron, we are studying 1 Kings. In chapter eight of 1st Kings, there was a great time of sacrifice when the Israelites finished the temple. The people brought their best, unblemished animals to be sacrificed for their sins. That brought in an estimated 60,000 animals or more. Can you imagine, what a mess. Killing all those animals and disposing of the internal organs. But they needed to do the sacrifices to be temporarily forgiven for sin.
There were Israelites that had the opportunities to sacrifice, but they ignored it. And in our passage there were numerous kings that didn't bow a knee to Christ. It didn't and wouldIn't end well for the kings and us if we deny the power of Jesus Christ (Revelations).
What we must do immediately is to be sure we are right with Jesus Christ: believing in Him, being sorry for our sins and asking for forgiveness for the same. If we have done that, we too are like Adam and Eve before their big mistake in the Garden of Eden. We are royal beings that are perfect due to the New Covenant of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!!!
PRAYER
Dear Lord/God,
Thank you for creating the plan to give us the New Covenant through Christ. It is an amazing thing that you did when you gave yourself and died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice. You were the best and were unblemished. You took the sins of the world on Yourself. For that I will forever be grateful. Amen.
