DAILY READING

REFLECTION

No Other Name

By Diane Ward

The Book of Acts is a historical narrative. It is the statement of the Church.

Through twenty-eight inspired chapters, Luke describes how the Holy Spirit transformed timid disciples into bold witnesses, and how the Good News born in Jerusalem crossed borders and reached Rome, “the symbol of the entire world.”

Peter and John boldly proclaimed and witnessed to the Sanhedrin that salvation exists in no one else but Jesus the only Savior. They boldly witnessed in the face of opposition at the threat of the Sadducees. Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the Gospel. God’s grace was with them all and they were one in heart and mind.

Radical generosity united a community where all things were shared. "Same day current giving encompasses many ways for us to serve and give." World-wide we give alongside Lutheran World Hunger Relief where needs are most shared, and we are one in heart and mind as we give.

This is a serious proposal; believe in your city, in Jesus Christ, that He wants you to make your city better. Believe in yourself, that you can do the work He would desire. How do we begin? As Christ did, He looked at the city, wept over it, and died for it. (Celtic Daily Prayer)

PRAYER

Our world is transient, lasting for a brief time. It is difficult to cultivate community. When we rejoice, we glorify God and build relationships for a future for those who will come after us. "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen."
