Am I Worthy?

Let the theme music from “Mission Impossible” begin to play. Do you hear it in your mind?
If God were to appear to you right now and speak these words, what would He say?
“Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is . . .”
In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he has spent three chapters explaining the work of God’s grace. Let’s look at just a few:
Ephesians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.”
Ephesians 2:4-5, “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Ephesians 3:17-20, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. . .”
Paul begins chapter 4 with this urgent message, “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”
In other words, your mission in life? To live a life worthy of your calling.
How do we do that?
Be completely humble and gentle. Why? Because we received this calling as a GIFT of GRACE. We did nothing to deserve it, and we could never have earned it. We have nothing to prove. We are His simply because, “He choose us before the foundations of the world!”
Keep our focus on the One.
One Body – we together, are the body of Christ.
One Spirit – the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead.
One Hope – My only hope is in Him, not myself.
One Lord – I am not Lord, He is.
One Faith – I put my complete confidence in Him.
One baptism – He marked me as His very own.
One God and Father of All – He is not just my God and Father, but the Father of All.
Jesus is the Ascended King. He led the march of victory over all that has held us captive! Those who once held us captive no longer have mastery over us.
As the ascended King, He has invited us to join Him in His mission of saving the world. He has given you specific gifts, unique to you, for the specific purpose for which He has called you.
This is what I hear God speaking to me today:
“Stop trying to measure up! You are mine!
You don’t have to earn my love, you already have it!
I have placed my Holy Spirit in your heart to empower you!
I have a calling on your life, it is to follow me and be filled with ALL MY FULLNESS!
Don’t continue to live as a captive! I am the victorious ascended King of All.
Keep your eyes and your focus on Me.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is . . . live a life worthy of your calling!”
PRAYER PRACTICE
Read today’s passage through once more. Then spend some time praying and asking God to show you what you need to pay attention to in the text. Reread it again. Now ask God to help you see what this text, and the part that has stood out, may mean for you. Be ready to really hear from God through His Word. What is He telling you today?
