No Surprises!
by Judy Webb
"I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way... Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:4-9 NIV)
Words which stand out for me: “In Him you have been...
Enriched in every way.
You do not lack any spiritual gift.
Firm to the end.
The way of the world lately has found me searching for answers in my Bible. Each morning as I begin my day, I seek out God’s Word for me and even ask for a special word to touch my heart and prompt me to dig deeper. I abide with Jesus in this way, knowing that life outside my home is confusing, scary, and frustrating. I am often tempted to stay indoors where I know I am safe and where the likelihood of encountering a situation I can’t handle is zero. But then I remember the word God supplied this morning and I am convicted that it isn’t all about me.
If I face the truth, it is more about those who don't yet know the Good News of Jesus. My duty and privilege are to tell them how they can be pulled into God's family. It is my delight to get myself to heaven and bring as many people with me as I can.
Anything that is happening in the world today is no surprise to God. While I may be shocked and stunned by certain events, God is not. The words of Paul above testify to God’s provision and grace. God knew the era we would be living in and provided everything we would need to survive it and dwell in his presence. He has enriched our lives with His word. He gifted us with all we need to communicate our testimony to those he places in our path.
PRAYER
Our ultimate destination is with You, Jesus, but in the meantime, we eagerly await that day as we stand firm to the end and show ourselves blameless and joy filled knowing God has called us into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
