REFLECTION

I Love Weddings!

by Judy Webb

This past Sunday we read about the wedding at Cana, which tells us about Jesus’ first miracle and officially beginning His ministry. It’s Interesting that Jesus chose a wedding to launch this part of His work here on earth, for it seems that Revelation 19 is revealing how Jesus is bringing it to a conclusion with a wedding, the wedding feast of the Lamb.

‘An Angel said to me, “Write this, “Blessed are those invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

As Christ-followers, we have been invited to this celebration, and it may be that our Baptism and then our transformation into godly people is our acceptance of the wedding invitation.

My Bible titles this section of Revelation as Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall. Babylon, meaning death and symbolized as a prostitute.

Jesus has issued an invitation to each of us, to join in the wedding feast, but not everyone accepts this offer; some reject the invite and continue doing life as one still in Babylon; still heading toward a consuming fiery death.

Hallelujah means Praise the Lord! Bride of the Lamb is the Church and Life eternal, the ultimate victory. When we are tied to Christ, to the true Lamb, we celebrate as a Child of God.

To be triumphant in Christ is not something that we do…it is something that we are. “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captive in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Let us all respond a resounding, “yes!” to the invitation. It is going to be some party!

Dear Jesus, we want to accept your invitation to the wedding and the feast of everlasting life in your presence. As we begin this year of 2022, help us to recognize your invitation and resoundingly respond with, "Yes, Lord. Count me in!"
