The Greatest of All!

By Judy Webb

"So all of you who are holy partners in a heavenly calling, let's turn our attention to Jesus, the Emissary of God and High Priest, who brought us the faith we profess; and compare Him to Moses, who also brought words from God. Both of them were faithful to their missions, to the One who called them. But we value Jesus more than Moses, in the same way that we value a builder more than the house he builds. Every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. (Hebrews 3:1-6 VOICE)

The title of this section in my Bible reads: Jesus Greater Than Moses. The text leaves one to believe that this isn't necessarily a common belief at the time of this writing. The Jews believed Moses to be the greatest of all men. They probably still do today. But this is because they haven't yet embraced our Messiah, haven't heard the true Word of God and believed.

Fact 1:

Moses was great. He delivered the Jews from captivity and lead them to the Promised Land. He taught them about God and His love for them as he patiently walked alongside them in the desert. Moses was a powerful and faithful servant of God.

Fact 2:

Jesus delivered us and accomplished salvation for everyone--not only the Jews--and still does today. Jesus is on a totally different level. Jesus is not a servant, but a Son of God. He is not a created being; He is the Creator. He did not come to predict God's plan...He came to fulfill it.

Perhaps some of us reading this are of a similar mindset. Not so much that Moses is greatest, but that Jesus isn't either. Perhaps there was a time in your life (I know there was in mine) when I didn't really care, until I did care...Until I discovered that the only thing I needed was Jesus and then I pursued Him wholeheartedly. Is this your story as well? Won't you share with us, or someone close to you who needs to hear it?

PRAYER

Dear Father in Heaven,

Open our eyes to your Greatness and Truth. Give us discernment when studying your word and applying it to life. We need your Truth and Love to survive this world, as we wait for Jesus' return. Come Holy Spirit! Amen.
