Compassion
by Kim Starr
We have all been in situations where we simply didn’t know which way to turn or what to do. When that happened, what did you do? Worry? Complain? Turn to others? Turn to God?
The scripture for today is titled, “The Compassion of the Lord.” It directs us to come to the waters to drink and to eat, even if we have no money. It encourages us to come to the Lord and listen to Him so that we may live. And the best news: The Lord is going to make an everlasting covenant with us, the same faithful love He promised to David.
We are to seek the Lord and call upon Him, and the Lord will have compassion on us. God then tells us His thoughts are not our thoughts and our ways are not His ways. What a blessing! God knows everything we need, and He knows how to supply and fulfill our needs. We only need to listen to, and act on, what He says. Then His purposes, not ours, will be accomplished. We will go out in joy and be led in peace.
Do you trust in God’s promises? Do you accept the covenant He made with you? Even if you find yourself in a dark place or an uncomfortable situation, you can trust in the Lord. He loves you. He has compassion for you. He will accomplish His purposes in you.
PRAYER PRACTICE
Dear heavenly Father, we are so thankful for you! We are so blessed that you have plans and purposes for us and that, even though we may not know Your thoughts or Your ways, You’ve got us. Please help us to trust in your promises and covenants. We look forward to being sent out in joy and led in peace. In Your holy name we pray, Amen.
