Always Watching

Psalm 121
We probably all have those seasons when everything seems to go wrong; when we are so overwhelmed with life and getting through every day, that we feel alone and adrift. It is times like these when Psalm 121 lifts me up out of the dumps and sets my sights on things far above these earthly situations. “I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help comes from? (Psalm 121:1)

When was the last time you lifted your eyes to the mountains—far above the earthly constraints, to reach for the stars? Were you dealing with a health scare? Perhaps the health of someone you care about? Looking to the mountains shifts focus from the valleys below and offers a clearer perspective. We gain a new view of the situation and perhaps see a possible solution.
Just maybe you can now recognize that the call on your life by God never gets old. It may change up a bit as you age and gain wisdom, but God’s purpose for you only grows stronger. “He will not let your foot slip--He who watches over you will not slumber…” (Psalm 121:3) God cannot be taken off guard or surprised like someone who falls asleep.
He has given us many tools to navigate this world; not the least of which is found in Ephesians 6:11- the armor of God which enables us to stand against the wiles of the devil.
“The Lord watches over you.” (Psalm 121:3,4,5,7,and 8) He is your protection, day and night. He will protect you from every evil influence, He’s alongside you as a bodyguard. No one is as secure as the person who has received the Lord as his only hope!
“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." (Psalm121:8)
God is said to watch over His people as they face the risks of life on a fallen earth. Providing not a cushioned life, but a well- armed one. So, the next time you are facing trials of many kinds, pull up Psalm 121 and slowly read each of the eight verses, pausing each time the words, “the Lord watches over you” appear. Then take a breath and thank God that He is watching.
PRAYER
Lord, Thank you for always watching over us. We need Your vigilant and loving eye on us daily. We strive to serve you, but sometimes we falter. Forgive our weaknesses and guide us as we walk through this world. Amen.
