Twelve-Week Job Seeker Boot Camp: Feb. 10 - May 5
We meet at Lytham Road on Wednesdays from 6:30-9:00 pm. Workbook and materials are available. Walk-ins are welcome any week. The cost for the 12-week course, including workbook, is $40. Please arrive by 6:00 pm to register and pick up your materials, class begins promptly at 6:30. Week 1: Moving Forward
Getting past the loss of a job, career or dream; the journey ahead. Answer the question, “Why me, God?”
Week 2: Stretching Your Dollars
Computing your length of search and exploring proven financial survival strategies.
Week 3: Choose Your Future
Deciding where you’re going, your focus and alternatives for getting there. Choices you have and don’t have.
Week 4: Plan Your Attack
Using job postings, networking, search firms and cold calling to your advantage.
Week 5: Tale of Two Résumés
The two-minute drill (oral) & two-page résumé (written); purposes, designs and effective applications.
Week 6: Résumé Inspection
Interactive evaluations of résumés in a friendly atmosphere. Receive suggestions to put power in your written and oral résumés.
Week 7: Network News
Powerful networking and how to do it effectively.
Week 8: Interviewing 101 & 201
Preparing for and controlling the interview process. Improve your chances of staying in the game.
Week 9: Interviewing 301 & 401
Answering tough questions you will encounter, and developing great questions to ask your interviewers.
Week 10: Graduate Work: Practice Interviewing
Interviewing practice with helpful, supportive critiques.
Week 11: Closing a Search, Opening a Future
Negotiating the job offer and other early foundations for success, and for avoiding future layoffs.
Week 12: Panel: Putting It All Together
Meet four job search experts for a exciting Q and A session. Learn how hiring managers, executive search and HR staffers make the decisions they do when filling positions in their firm.
