Hilltop Community

"Hilltop Lutheran, like our neighborhood, is a wonderfully diverse community. We are experiencing the unity of the Body of Christ as we recognize the value of each of its many parts."

What Do We Hope You Will Experience on Sunday Morning?

Rich and vibrant worship of God. Sunday morning worship includes the basic elements of worship – Creed and confession, Word and sacrament, prayer and praise, paired with a mixture of classic and contemporary music selected each week to usher us before the Lord.

There are no secret handshakes or complicated calls and responses, to make a first time visitor feel out of step. We are simple people simply worshiping our Lord together. Most people, including the pastor, dress casually. And, like our struggling blue collar neighborhood, our people are a welcoming cross section of Columbus.

We are liturgical. We pray the Lord’s Prayer, confess our sins and hear the Words of Forgiveness. On the first and third Sunday of every month, we celebrate Communion. Worship includes a short sermon opening the Scriptures through fundamental theology to be instructive and inspirational for the challenges of daily life. We also spend about a third of our time praising our Lord with a mixture of songs that range from classic "green book" hymns to today's music you hear on Christian radio. We would love for you to join us and find your place on the Hilltop.
